Spells that conjure a small amount of material with a short arcing trajectory. Explosive Projectile can be applied to deal large amounts of damage, which is treated as accidental damage, although it can hurt you as well.

Cement is a material type spell that creates a single drop of Cement material in the air. As with all the single drop material spells, Cement offers handy reductions in both Cast and Recharge Delay for zero mana cost making it a very useful early game spell (if you are lucky enough to find it).

As you might expect, Cement's main utility is as a construction material - one of a fairly short list of practical construction materials in Noita, and by far the easiest to form complex shapes with. This grey coloured liquid rock can be poured into gaps or forms before hardening into concrete after a few seconds into solid matter.

Unlocking Cement

Cement is the only basic material spell that needs to be unlocked before it will appear in shops (as a material spell, it will never spawn on a wand). It can be unlocked by retrieving the Orb of True Knowledge hidden deep inside the Wizards' Den. On your first visit, the Orb will contain a copy of the spell - useful given it is otherwise somewhat rare.

Tips

  • This is one of only 2 sources in Noita for Cement - the other being an extremely rare flask.
  • The single-pixel Material spells provide a substantial reduction to both Cast Delay and Recharge Time for zero mana cost. Cement can be used to increase wand firing rate, similar to using Digging Bolt or Chainsaw.

Increasing quantity

  • The Divide By spells can be used to increase the amount of Cement produced from a single cast of the Cement spell - this greatly speeds up the process.
  • Chain Spell and Larpa Explosion also increase the amount produced per cast - and can be combined with Divide By.

Moulding & Casting

  • You can use the spells Summon Wall and Summon Platform to create temporary forms to pour Cement into. This is particularly useful for creating a wall to block off a tunnel. Use Increase Lifetime to keep the platforms around long enough for the Cement to harden.
  • Chunk of Soil can also work as a way to make moulds (with rougher results).
  • The perk Dissolve Powders removes Soil - you can use this to create straight, vertical walls from a pile of soil by dropping downwards into it, providing a form for a vertical concrete wall.
  • Cement hardens almost instantly if cast underwater, and ice can be used as a temporary moulding material.

Painting

  • For best visual effect, avoid using Blood Magic while creating Cement structures, as it stains them red.
  • Freeze Charge can be used to 'paint' Cement (and other materials) an icy white colour. This can be useful if you blow up an area enough that you can no longer see the terrain edges.
  • Various Mist spells can work similarly as makeshift paints, with varying results.

Material Properties

For more details, see the Cement material page.

  • While a highly versatile building material, hardened Cement is still fairly soft (with a hardness more similar to that of Ice than to Rock) and will be damaged or destroyed by many (particularly explosive) spells.
  • Cement is, however, one of the densest liquids in Noita - second only to Void Liquid, and on a par with Lava. It will thus almost always sink to the bottom of a pool of other fluids.
  • In order to harden, Cement must be exposed to either Water, Air, or already hardened Cement. Exposure to water accelerates the process, causing hardening almost immediately. Once hardening has begun it will quickly spread through the liquid.
  • A pool of Cement created underground, with no contact with water or air, may not begin hardening at all.
  • Like other liquids, Cement will travel upwards through solid material until it reaches a void. This can be very useful for filling in otherwise inaccessible gaps.

Wand Builds

Casting a single drop of Cement at a time is a very slow process. The best wands for this purpose combine Divide By with rapid fire, giving a significant boost in construction speed This example produces 80 drops per frame.

You can create a platform to cast the cement on using Summon Platform and a Pollen Loop. (Adding ~40 Increase Lifetime (+3000 frames/50s) gives plenty of time for the Cement to harden), e.g.:
