Spells that trail
These modifiers all add a matter generating effect to projectiles that they are multicast with. This can produce a surprising amount of material with slow, long-lived projectiles.
Poison Trail is a projectile modifier that causes projectiles to emit a continuous poison stream, while also applying the Poisoned status directly on impact to a creature. The pools of poison that form will evaporate over time into flammable poison gas.
Tips
- The poison liquid formed deals damage both through inflicting
Poisoned stains and via Material damage.
- The on-hit
Poisoned effect (not the stain) will last for 720 frames, or 12 seconds, enough for 8 ticks of its effect.
- The amount of poison gas formed is typically small, but is long-lasting and can lead to Suffocation damage and is easily ignited.
- This is the most reliable way of obtaining poison for Alchemy.
- As there is no way to become immune to being
Poisoned, this modifier is arguably more dangerous to you than the enemy. Exercise caution when using it.
- While it is not a direct immunity, the Freeze Field perk prevents damage as frozen poison deals no damage.
- Poison is an exceptional damage source against the last boss as it deals %health damage.
- Normally, the lingering
Poisoned status effect cannot kill you or enemies directly, similar to Toxic Sludge, since it stops dealing damage if the target is at 5% hp or less. If one tick of damage deals more than 5%, it can become lethal. NG+ and Nightmare mode multiply the damage you take and can make poison and toxic lethal.
