Spells that create more than one projectile when cast.

Flock Of Ducks is a projectile spell which creates three highly explosive moving duck projectiles. The ducks have a randomised lifetime between 3 and 7 seconds, exploding violently in a shower of blood upon death. The ducks begin life with the property of Piercing, letting them hit multiple enemies prior to exploding.

Beware, the explosion can hurt you too, and blood can remove the protection of Stainless Armour.

Tips

  • After the summoned ducks explode, they release a large amount of blood that can be used to heal with the Vampirism perk. Combined with Unlimited Spells, this serves as an infinite source of healing.
  • The amount of blood created is based on the explosion radius, and can be changed.
  • The blood can be converted with Liquid Detonation, potentially creating many gunpowder explosions.
  • When used with Larpa spells, Flock of Ducks can be very destructive, but their numbers can grow out of hand quickly.
  • Without the proper immunities, the ducks will damage you upon exploding. Cast with caution.
  • Ducks have an innate Chaotic Path (without extra speed multiplier).
  • The ducks innately have the property of (player-safe) Piercing.
    • The Piercing property is only effective for the first 11 frames of a duck's life.[1]
  • Unlike other "summon" type spells, these are just regular projectiles with a duck sprite - they have neither a hitbox nor hp, etc.
    • This means they cannot be hit by other projectiles, and so cannot be used to make Trigger Loops.

Notes:

  1. After 11 frames, a script is run (every frame thereafter) that removes the Piercing effect from a duck if it moves within 12 pixels of an entity with the homing_target tag.

Multiple Projectiles

Some spells, including Flock of Ducks, produce several projectiles per cast. This property produces useful effects and synergies, and has some caveats to be aware of when used with other spells.

  • Modifiers that add damage will apply to all of the individual projectiles, multiplying their value.
  • The Arc modifier spells, particularly Electric Arc, work well since they are more effective when many projectiles are cast together.
  • Pattern angles set by Formation multicast and other spells can apply to each projectile individually.
  • Add Trigger will attempt to add a trigger to each individual projectile, using a separate payload for each one.
    • Some spells produce a different number of projectiles when combined with Add Trigger.

Unlocking

Flock of Ducks is unlocked once the Orb of True Knowledge under the Snowy Chasm has been collected (along with Summon Deercoy and Worm Launcher).
