Summon Explosive Box

Summon Explosive Box is a spell that summons a box of explosives. The box has no collision, but otherwise behaves identically to the normal explosive boxes typically found in the Mines.

Tips

  • Can be effectively used to set traps for enemies to walk into.
  • Enemies killed by these count as accidental kills, so will yield double Gold and trigger Trick Blood Money (if you have it).
  • They can't be used to score Physics kills, and if paired with any variant of Homing, they'll simply orbit around the nearest enemy until it's destroyed.
  • This spell causes a triple explosion and is therefore three times as powerful as stated. It also explodes twice when Nolla is used.
  • One can stand inside the box freely.
    • It is possible to drown in the box if you stand in them for too long.
    • When you have acquired Explosion Immunity and Breathless, you can use the Explosive Box as a shield or hiding place.
  • Pairs well with Energy Orb in the payload of a trigger spell, detonating immediately on payload release, except for some instances when hitting terrain that an Energy Orb cannot dig through. The same behavior can also be obtained simply by using an Energy Orb With Trigger or Timer with an Explosive Box as the payload. Firebolt with trigger produces the same effect.
  • Can explode due to random chance when hit by a projectile; when this occurs, an invisible, stationary underlying projectile will still be active. This invisible projectile will still have modifications such as Damage Field, and can generate another explosion with Explosive Detonator. This invisible projectile can be moved by some means, such as True Orbit, but not others, such as Boomerang. One way to consistently trigger this behavior is by hitting the box with a large number of unmodified Summon Arrows, as they deal little damage relative to the box's max HP and do not dig into its physics body, usually avoiding other criteria under which the box can explode.
    • Combined with Add Trigger, the invisible projectile will act as a trigger. The payload will be released in the direction the box was moving when it was destroyed (spread and formations still apply). If the box was stationary when destroyed, payloads will be released at/near zero speed. Modifiers such Boomerang on the box won't produce a boomerang effect on the invisible projectile, but will change the direction that its payload is released, even after the box is destroyed; Boomerang + Cessation will create a stationary but aiming wisp. Other spells, such as Vacuum Field and True Orbit, can impact the positioning of this projectile.
    • Combined with Add Expiration Trigger, the payload will only be released when the invisible projectile is destroyed.
