Avoiding Arc is a projectile modifier spell that will attempt to avoid hitting terrain, veering off in a free direction most in line with its current trajectory.

The modifier has a limited amount of strength, so projectiles that are too fast or shot perpendicular enough to terrain will still hit it, as well as enclosed spaces or dead ends.

Tips

  • Has some synergy with the Homing modifier/perk, as projectiles will a have better chance to reach what they're tracking instead of crashing into terrain.
  • Concentrated Light will always act like it has this modifier.
  • Some projectiles with physics bodies (e.g., Bombs) may attempt to avoid themselves and accelerate very quickly in some directions without other nearby things to avoid.
  • Projectiles that generate materials, including trails, may try to avoid the generated material and may accelerate quickly (e.g., Acid Balls), move in a predictable direction (e.g., Blood Clouds), or change direction unpredictably (e.g., Slime Mist, Nukes).
