Spell modifiers that adjust the lifetime of the affected projectiles.

Orbiting Arc is a Modifier type spell that increases the lifetime of multicast projectiles by 25 frames, and adds Projectile Damage2.5 projectile damage, for no mana cost. There is one drawback - it also forces the projectiles to follow a tight, circular path around their spawn location, mostly limiting its combat effectiveness to use within Trigger payloads. The direction of the orbit is based on the direction you are currently facing, offering crude control of the projectiles even after firing them.

Combat Tips

  • Orbit has a very tight radius, roughly the width of your character.
  • Very limited offensive capabilities unless you want to set traps for enemies to move into.
  • Synergizes well with Piercing Shot and Healing Bolt.
  • The direction the projectile orbits depend on which direction you are facing and will update midair when you turn around (from looking right to looking left or vice versa). In a pinch, this could be used to guide modified projectiles farther away or around corners (or just to generate interesting visual effects).
  • Has interesting effects when paired with Luminous Drill. The lifetime modifier will make the drill trace a longer path than normal; if you don't turn around, this path will be approximately circular (with some visual artifacts outside the circle). Midair direction changes can be used with a rapid-fire Luminous Drill for various effects, such as attacking a large cone-shaped area below you by alternating at the correct tempo between aiming down + slightly left and down + slightly right.
  • Works well when paired with a trigger and any dangerous or unpredictable projectile spell, such as a Giga Disc Projectile. As it will prevent them bouncing back toward you, and ideally release directly on top of the enemy.
  • Is a core ingredient in infinite lifetime spells
  • Works well with explosives, as they will stay airborne while orbiting. Coupled with a Long-Distance Cast or trigger spell, it can be an effective way to deliver explosives to floating enemies and bosses.
