Projectile Energy Shield is a projectile modifier spell that adds a small energy shield to projectiles it is multicast with. The shield can deflect other projectiles that hit it - both your enemy's and your own. It also significantly reduces projectile speed and imposes a hard limit on projectile lifetime, both of which can be very useful properties.

Combat Tips

  • This modifier is most effective on spells that cast multiple projectiles, like Freezing Gaze or Triplicate Bolt, but will also be highly effective when applied with a multicast, or on a wand with multiple spells per cast.
  • It has limited offensive use due to the spell speed reduction effect it imparts, although combining it with other modifiers and certain spells can help work around some of its downsides.
  • The individual shields it creates are small, so a barrage of shots with a decent amount of spread will fare the best defensively. Combining this modifier with multicast cards like Formation - Hexagon or Formation - Trifurcated can easily cover a large area with shields.
  • Projectiles can damage and disable their attached shield when initially fired. For example, Energy Orbs consistently disable attached shields when fired[1], and Bubble Sparks with Damage Plus will disable attached shields if fired at certain angles.
  • Some projectiles will have attached shields that point to the right regardless of the direction in which they are fired.
  • While Effect berserk.png Berserk, your projectiles will not bounce off of the shields from your other projectiles, making it easier to build a wall of shields, but the shields will not shield against berserk enemies' projectiles.
