Path of Dark Flame is a spell that leaves a trail of static magical fire projectiles as it moves which can inflict significant damage on any enemies that collide with them. These projectiles will stay in the world for a few seconds before dissipating.
Tips
- While the main projectile of the spell deals 20 damage, the individual trail projectiles left behind deal 6.25 projectile and 6.25 fire damage.
- Only the main projectile is affected by projectile modifiers; the static flames are not.
- Although the static flames cannot be given Homing, the Vortex created by some enemies and spells can move them.
- This can be exploited by casting Path of Dark Flame in conjunction with Black Holes, which turns the trail into a vortex of projectiles concentrated on the Black Hole. The utility of this combination is limited by Black Hole's limited charge count, though.
- A Personal Gravity Field can also be used to pull the trail towards an affected enemy.
- As it comes with 60 charges this spell is one of the more useful use-limited spells in the game.
- Kallokärpänen will attack you using this spell.
- When Epäalkemisti's ball is destroyed, similar dark flames will be thrown in all directions.
- The dark flames are not actually Fire and do not ignite flammable materials.
- Very effective against Mato and other worms due to their segmented nature.
- This spell can make a very effective boss killer in speedruns, being able to very quickly kill SPOILER: Kolmisilmä
