Intense Concentrated Light
Intense Concentrated Light creates a stationary projectile that, after a half second's delay, releases 5 laser beams that act similar to Concentrated Light.
Tips
- When cast near solid objects, the spell may sometimes cause a gunpowder-like explosion at the firing location after a few seconds, which may set you
On fire, making it somewhat unsafe to use. Electric Charge will reveal the explosion location in advance as a small, sparking circle.
- It is recommended to cast this a few steps back from the enemy as to not shoot through them.
- Given that this spell is made up of multiple smaller projectiles, it benefits greatly from modifiers that increase damage.
- Projectile speed modifiers have no effect on the 5 secondary projectiles, making the Heavy Shot modifier particularly effective.
- Drilling Shot has no effect, as the beams simply fizzle on contact with terrain.
- Octagonal Bolt Bundle will cause the primary and secondary projectiles to immediately explode into 8 projectiles each, often producing pacifist trick kills, though often posing a hazard to you even when on a trigger, as well as propelling gold far away.
- Adding Reduce Lifetime or Nolla removes the non-pacifist, non-trick bolt bundles from the launcher projectile, leaving a consistent source of pacifist trick kills.
- Adding Explosive Projectile together with Reduce Lifetime or Nolla (recommended at the end of a delivery mechanism such as Long Distance Cast) will produce pacifist trick kills, but requires waiting a few seconds for an explosion, unless Octagonal Bolt Bundle is also applied.
Multiple Projectiles
Some spells, including Intense Concentrated Light, produce several projectiles per cast. This property produces useful effects and synergies, and has some caveats to be aware of when used with other spells.
- Modifiers that add damage will apply to all of the individual projectiles, multiplying their value.
- The Arc modifier spells, particularly Electric Arc, work well since they are more effective when many projectiles are cast together.
- Pattern angles set by Formation multicast and other spells can apply to each projectile individually.
- Add Trigger will attempt to add a trigger to each individual projectile, using a separate payload for each one.
- Some spells produce a different number of projectiles when combined with Add Trigger.
Some spells define a sequence of "related" projectiles that don't match the sequence of projectiles added when normally casting the spell, meaning that they can have different behavior with Add Trigger and Plicate series of spells. They may produce different kind(s) of projectile(s) and/or a different number of projectiles. The "related" projectiles will be used:
- when Add Trigger/etc. targets this spell and the payload search succeeds
- when Plicates target this spell, if this spell is of type Projectile or Static Projectile and there is enough mana
If the original spell is also drawn and cast (which is very often the case with Plicates), then both "related" and "normal" projectile sequences may appear in the result.
- Adding Tentacler together with Reduce Lifetime or Nolla will produce a large number of tentacles launched from a stationary central point which deal a small amount of friendly fire damage and a large amount of trick kill damage. Similar combinations exist for Fireball Thrower, Fireball Orbit, Sawblade Orbit, and other similar spells, though with less friendly results regarding friendly fire: the fireballs will not directly hit you, but can damage you if exploding on the ground or wall beside you, and sawblades will hit and damage you regardless.
- Combining with Spells to Magic Missiles or Spells to Nukes will produce one non-trick-killing and five trick-killing projectiles, which will fall directly downward. Spells to Death Crosses is similar, but they will not fall, and the trick-killing projectiles will home in on you (or fish and other select prey). Spells to Giga Sawblades is similar, but instead of falling, the non-trick-kill sawblade will accelerate in the opposite direction that it was released, while the trick kill sawblades will accelerate to the left. Adding Reduce Lifetime or Nolla does not have an effect.
- Intense Concentrated Light's has only the launcher/wand as a related projectile; no beams are included.
Bugs/Interaction/Glitches
- If multiple Intense Concentrated Lights are stacked on each other or just cast with Reduce Lifetime or Nolla, some of the beams will never launch, but will instead remain stationary, invisible, and non-colliding in the air for roughly four seconds, much longer than ones that do launch; with the use of modifiers, this can be used to deal massive damage with simple combos.
In the second example, the first set of lasers will still be launched, but Nolla or Reduce Lifetime to prevent this and have two sets of unlaunched lasers.
