Slimeball

Slimeball is an early game projectile spell often found in the Mines. It creates a small, slow-moving blob resembling those shot by the Limanuljaska - though the trail of Toxic Sludge emitted from the projectile is purely cosmetic and does not damage or stain.

Damage instead comes from a combination of Explosion Damage Explosion and Projectile Damage Projectile types. The explosion can only damage soft materials like wood and Coal, but can still be useful if no other digging is available.

The spell has a hidden speed boosting effect, similar to that of the Speed Up modifier, but only a tenth as strong. Wands containing this spell emit a small trail of Flammable Gas.

Tips

  • Due to the slow speed of the projectile and moderate mana drain, this spell is best used as part of a combo with a fast travelling trigger spell such as Spark Bolt to reduce the chances of wasting your shots.
  • Works very well with Matter Eater due to its slow speed and relatively long lifetime.
  • The hidden speed-modifier (×1.10) applies not just to the Slimeball, but other projectiles multicast with it. The effect stacks with other spells and modifiers that affect speed, including other copies of Slimeball.
  • The Toxic Sludge emitted when it expires is (non-cosmetic) radioactive_liquid_fading which is distinct from the more common radioactive_liquid and evaporates quickly on contact with air. It can be collected in a flask before it disappears. It causes Effect poisoned.png Poisoned on ingestion, but does not stain (and can actually clear stains when present in significant quantities, though this takes special setups to achieve).
