Plasma Spells
Spells that emit deadly beams of light.
Plasma Cutter is a projectile type spell that creates a lurid green beam of plasma that is equally good at destroying terrain, your enemies, and (if not used with care) yourself. The particle beam is emitted by a small, almost invisible projectile, and while the source of the beam can be modified the beam itself can only be modified using Plasma Beam Enhancer. Compared to Plasma Beam, the cutter has less range but has much more digging power, enough to slowly cut through Holy Mountain Brickwork, and rapidly through anything softer.
Tips
- The beam source has a lifetime of one second and with no modifiers will only move slightly. If not careful, you can walk or fall into the source, which will result in being rapidly hit by the plasma beam.
- For safe digging, always be moving away from the direction you fire the beam, e.g. walk backwards while firing forwards, or fire upwards while dropping down.
- When a modifier such as homing is added, the source will redirect and move, which can also be dangerous to the caster.
- The emitter projectile that produces the beam has a high Air Friction stat (a little more than is added by Decelerating Shot) and low initial speed, which is responsible for it stopping so quickly.
- Three copies of Accelerating Shot are enough to make it have negative Air Friction (which in Noita makes projectiles accelerate).
- Combining that with Light Shot or Speed Up turns Plasma into a fast-moving laser beam, which behaves a lot more like Luminous Drill.
- While just as effective at killing enemies as Plasma Beam, Plasma Cutter has a downside in combat - the beam will destroy any gold nuggets it touches.
- Critical Hits, and almost all other modifications, only apply to the initial projectile and origin of the beam, not its entire length.
- Plasma Beam Enhancer is can be used to increase the beam width and length.
- The beam is created by a script that runs on the 2nd frame of the source projectile's life. Nolla will cause the plasma source to die before it has a chance to start emitting.
- Chaotic Transmutation can be used to disable scripts run by other spells, and causes the source to not emit the beam. This makes it safer to use, and since the source has natural player-safe Piercing it can be turned into a powerful wisp.
- Many enemies killed by this spell are instantly vaporized, leaving little to no traces of a corpse behind.
