Nov 24 2020 - The Sauna Update

The 15th update is out! This time we've focused on game balance, improvements and bug fixes, but there's also a lot of new stuff to discover and experiment with.

Among the highlights are a new well-hidden biome, a new building to chill in called Sauna, and changes that make Temple of the Art a bit more interesting. Biome modifiers are now communicated more clearly when entering a biome. The whole game has again been localized to ten different languages.

A large part of the user interface library used by Noita is now also available to mods, and there's a new menu that mods can use as a common location for their settings.

We managed to cram so much content in this HOTFIX release PATCH that it makes sense to call it an UPDATE, which makes this the first proper update since Noita 1.0 released two weeks ago. Yay! This update comes with the usual bunch of new content, changes and fixes. There are also some performance optimizations, and some of the more powerful spell combos will now sound better.

Noita 1.0 HOTFIXES coming in hot. We've managed to fix the most severe bugs, so you're getting a few not so critical fixes with this one. Also just as a warning, if you're doing an extremely long run in Noita, you might want to turn off Steam Cloud sync. Noita might crash Steam if your save file exceeds the megabyte limits of what Steam Cloud supports.

First set of Noita 1.0 🔥HOTFIXES🔥 straight out of the oven, steaming hot, probably burning everything and setting you ablaze. The hotfix fixes some of the most glaring bugs that sneaked in, adds a few cosmetic improvements, localizes unlocalized text, and adds a few features requested by modders.

We've also updated the Noita beta branch on Steam. On the beta branch, there's a new set of starting potions for all you hydro homies.

In other news, the Noita 1.0 launch has been going great. We've very much enjoyed seeing all the new players discovering old things and seeing the old players discovering new things. Also its been a blast watching twitch streamers playing Noita with twitch integration :)

While working on a few bigger features, we've also had time to introduce fix some bugs. This update also adds a few useful functions to the modding API (available immediately in default and beta branches).

Bugfixes

  • Scrolling UIs broke if playing fullscreen on a monitor with aspect ratio wider than 16:9
  • Some haunting files were saved if mods were enabled
  • Fixed some issues with loading haunting files saved when mods were enabled
  • Autosave was broken in nightmare game mode
  • Crash - projectile timer trigger crashed when used with bombs, which some mods allowed
  • Tentacle shot from trigger projectile didn't start from correct coordinates
  • Tentacles shot near 0,0 always shot towards 0,0
  • Enemy laser sights were sometimes left visible longer than they should

Hey everyone! The latest Noita build contains five new perks, fixes replay recorder gif looping and improves gif downscaling quality. Screenshake has also been reduced to 70% of original amount. In our next patch we'll focus on balancing various unfair game mechanics and improving the legibility of status effects.

Thanks to all of you for your support and the positive response! We've prepared our first patch with some bugfixes and new features; patch notes are listed below but you'll be able to see them in-game!

As for game being stuck on loading screen, we've implemented a workaround. If you wait 30 seconds on the loading screen a message will appear and restarting the game afterwards should help.

Noita - the magical falling sand roguelite - is now out on Early Access!

Noita is now available for purchase on Early Access for USD $17.99 (EUR 16.99€)! It's been a long ride but it's time to show you all the work we've done over these past years; we can't wait to see what kind of stuff people get up to in the game. As the game's on Early Access, we'll be polishing and implementing things even after release, of course.
