Concentrated Spells
Concentrated Spells is a perk that slightly increases your cast delay, but also increases your accuracy and damage when casting spells.
The perk adds an invisible modifier before each spell with a type of Projectile, Static Projectile, or Material which:
- Reduces spread by 25
- Adds 12.5 Projectile damage to the Shot.
- Adds 5 Explosion damage to the Shot, but does nothing to the radius. (Thus projectiles with no explosive radius don't benefit from this)
- Increases cast delay by 2 frames (0.033 of a second).
- Adds 10 recoil (which is equivalent to a Damage Plus).
When multiple spells are cast using a multicast every spell gets affected by every invisible modifier.
So a triple-cast of three Spark Bolts would have -75 spread (-25*3), 37.5 added Projectile damage (12.5*3), 15 added Explosive damage (5*3), 6 added frames of cast delay (2*3) and 30 added recoil (10*3).
Thus the damage added to a multicast by 1 instance of the perk is 17.5n^2 where n is the number of spells fired in a multicast (ignoring resistances).
Note that it can cause some area of effect spells to deal damage (Circle of Vigour, or any other static area spell).
Tips
- Since it adds a flat damage increase, this perk is more effective on rapid fire builds than ones with slower casting.
- The added recoil can be used as a crude jetpack or jump extender by firing opposite of where you wish to go. Chainsaw wands in particular become a jetpack.
- Might slow digging operations, as you will be pushed back from whatever you're digging without careful spell arrangement.
- Has an anti-synergy with Healing Bolt (and Circle of Vigour) - the bolt will harm you for 12.5 damage per projectile or static projectile spell in the cast.
- This can be counteracted by Light Shot, Piercing Shot, or Divide By, or by staining yourself with Ambrosia.
