Kolmisilmä (listen Audio.svg) (also known as Three-Eye or Kolmi) is a large spider-like creature found in The Laboratory, and serves as the final boss of Noita.

Behavior & Combat

Upon entering Kolmisilmä's arena, it is first seen with its legs curled up near the Sampo. If approached, it extends all of its legs. Once you grab the Sampo, it becomes hostile, and portions of the arena's ceiling and floor collapse to form lavafalls. Kolmisilmä attacks with various projectiles that fire off more projectiles in a cross pattern, fly in a downwards arc and cause an upwards jet of flame, fly shortly and summon a ball of lava in its place, and wobble outwards in a pattern similar to the Slithering Path projectile modifier.

Kolmisilmä will often clear materials in a large radius around itself. Lava, toxic sludge, acid, poison, soil, blood, volcanic rock, rock, toxic rock, and poisonous rock disappear within this radius. It also has a shield similar to the Permanent Shield perk which will turn on and off periodically. Kolmisilmä also uses its legs in a similar fashion to the Lukki, crawling around the arena and attemping to avoid your spells. It also occasionally summons Kolmisilmän apuri (listen Audio.svg) minions: flying enemies resembling Kolmi's eyes, which occasionally fire projectiles at you.

At regular intervals, It will fade and become unhittable together with a Personal Gravity Field which collects projectiles fired at it. As the phase ends, the gathered projectiles will be flung away encased in red auras from the boss. These recycled projectiles can hurt you.

When you defeat Kolmisilmä, its limbs and body will split apart and fall down, and a glowing red portal to The Work (End) will spawn.

Tips

  • Even hitting the boss can be hard due to its invulnerability phase and large amount of incoming shots. Use the platforms as cover as much as you can.
  • The boss is vulnerable to both material and collision damage, so attacks that create Acid and Poison are incredibly effective, as well as falling debris from Earthquake, Earthquake Shot and Nuke.
  • Kolmisilmä will ceaselessly pursue you once the fight has been initiated, so running away is not a permanent escape. This oversized Lukki will follow you to the edge of the universe and back.
    • Because of this, Kolmislimä has an effect that prevents the area around him from unloading no matter how far away the you are, even before you have started the fight. This can be exploited to create a "portal"[1] to the Laboratory with spells like Return inside the payload of Dormant Crystal with Trigger triggered with Explosive Detonator, which does not work in unloaded chunks.
  • Reloading Noita during the fight can get the boss stuck in a passive state where it is immortal. To fix this, get some distance from it and reload the game again.

Scaling

Kolmisilmä's HP scales (and other stats change) based on the sum of:

For example, in the starting world (NG = 0), having collected 12 orbs, you'll face '12-orb' Kolmisilmä
In NG+, with only 11 orbs collected, you'll face, once again, '12-orb' Kolmisilmä.

The stats listed in the infobox are for the base (0 orb) version of Kolmisilmä.

Scaling is applied when the Sampo is picked up - any orbs collected between grabbing the Sampo and ending the game (or entering the next NG+ iteration) do not alter the boss currently chasing you.

The scaling formula is:

25*{46.0+(2.0[orbcount+1.3])+(orbcount*15.5)}

Kolmisilmä will also gain some additional attacks, immunities, and occasionally weaknesses at specific orb counts as well. Along with these notable changes, there are some more subtle differences such as the maximum number of minions it can spawn and have alive at once, the number of projectiles fired for each attack, and so on. See this sheet by Bunzero from the Noita Discord for the full details.

This table gives scaled HP values for the strengths of boss normally obtainable in the game (up to 64 orbs). The HP scaling formula continues to apply for higher orb counts.
