Tuonelankone (listen Audio.svg) (also known as the Necrobot) is a robotic enemy with humanoid appearance on tank treads which can resurrect nearby enemies.

Behaviour

Upon detecting a target, Necrobots will fire an accelerating skull-shaped projectile at their direction, inflicting 20Icon hp template heart.png damage and applying a modified version of Venomous Curse. Similarly to the Salamurhaajarobotti, it comes equipped with a forward-facing shield that deflects projectiles. It has remarkably high defenses against nearly all damage types but is weak against Electricity Damage Electricity damage.

Enemies that enter the Necrobot's effective radius will be surrounded by lime green sparkles. When that enemy is subsequently killed, a green skull icon will appear in the exact position where it was killed, and after about three seconds, it will be revived at half HP. This can be done an infinite number of times as long as they enter the Necrobot's radius again but will not drop Gold if killed again. Notably, corpses do not disappear.

More accurately, enemies are given an extra life of sorts every 40 frames in the presence of a Necrobot, the buff represented by the sparkles. Due to this, enemies that enter its radius and the move out of it can be revived regardless. This also means enemies can be killed permanently if killed quickly enough.

Necrobots can pick up and use wands.

Necrobots are only found in the Frozen Vault, Power Plant, and The Tower. SPOILER: In New Game Plus, Necrobots can also spawn in The Vault and the Lukki Lair. They can also be found in the Hiisi Base in further loops.

Polymorph Immunity Farming

Necrobots have utility with regards to attaining large quantities of Stinky Meat. One can quickly attain hours of Polymorph immunity Polymorph immunity, rendering one functionally invincible if sufficiently late game. To do this, one can confine a Necrobot and a Muodonmuutosmestari in the same room and repeatedly harvest its corpse, being careful not to kill the latter too quickly as detailed above. Each corpse confers somewhat more than 2 minutes of polymorph immunity. Iron Stomach is recommended, otherwise you will be Bursting at the seams Bursting at the seams when eating too much.

Of note are some tricks to keep in mind while moving around enemies: With rapid fire Homebringer Teleport Bolt wands, if you move an enemy into a ceiling, it will stay there. This is useful for confining the Necrobot, which will not suffocate. Enemies can also upwarp through thin segments of ceiling but will not go downwards, which is helpful for the chamber for Muodonmuutosmestari.

It is of note that the Wizards' Den and Power Plant are relatively close to each other and contain their respective enemies frequently.

An example of trapping enemies in ceilings. Note that the Necrobot is what you ought to trap for the above process, the Muodonmuutosmestari is for the sake of example.
Enemies can be bumped upwards into small areas via Homebringer Teleport Bolt wands, like so. This is useful for confining the Muodonmuutosmestari.

Tips

  • Enemies killed while polymorphed to other enemies and simultaneously under the effect of a Necrobot will be revived as the enemy they were polymorphed to, forever. This allows any enemy to be turned into an enemy with farming potential, like Masters of Polymorphing, Leggy Mimics, etc. It also allows completion hunting. Regular enemies that have potential for complex tricks can also be polymorphed into permanent versions by this method, which can simplify the logistics of transporting a specific type of enemy immensely. This can be accomplished by building a pool of Chaotic Polymorphine and using the same sort of build as shown directly above to place the enemy into the substance, killing the enemy to remove the stain, and rerolling as needed.
