East Meat Realm

The Meat realm, also known as Meat (biome) or Meat Chasm, is an unique biome found deep under the Desert. It has a flesh and blood theme to it with high-damage enemies as well as an abundance of Extra Health pickups, Utility Boxes and high tier Wands.

There are two main Meat Realms, one on the Desert Chasm by the Extremely Dense Rock isolating The Tower and another underneath the Power Plant, at the very bottom of the pit.

Layout and Hazards

The Meat realm is entirely made of Meat, which produces a massive amount of Blood when destroyed by Drills or Explosives. A common sight are pools of Pus, a liquid unique to this biome that inflicts poison and transmutes all water in contact with it into more pus.

Traps are also very common in this place, in the form of Cysts, Wall Eyes and Wall Mouths. Cysts are destructible props that can be damaged before exploding into a burst of Fire and Pus, similar both in behavior and look to the Underground Jungle's Root Grower's Fruit. Wall Eyes are background eyes that will shoot large, homing orbs with extremely high knockback at everything around them until killed. Wall Mouths behave similarly to the former, but instead will only attack anything in contact with them, dealing high damage and knockback.

The Meat Realm's Curse

The lowest amount of health you have while inside of the Meat Realm is tracked and it will be reset to that value while inside of the biome, even if you healed up outside it. This means that there is no way to heal while inside the Meat Realm other than picking up a Full Health Regeneration. This value is kept in record upon subsequent visits to the biome, even into New Game Plus, and it is numerical, not percentage-based.

Killing the Boss in the Western Meat Realm, Kolmisilmän sydän, lifts the curse and restores your ability to heal.

Enemies

The Meat Realm shares some enemies with The Work (Hell), as well as much later game enemies like Jattimato and Heart Mages.

Kolmisilmän Sydän

Near the center of the western biome, a vaguely circular arena can be found with Kolmisilmän Sydän inside, a fleshy, spider-like miniboss. It is partially resistant to many common damage types, and has a few gimmicks that can make this encounter difficult if not prepared properly.

Defeating the boss will drop the Saha Experimental Wand and lift the Meat Realm's health restriction, with the message:

A curse has been lifted! The air feels easier to breathe

Limatoukka

At the very bottom of the eastern biome, a massive half-buried skull can be found. Coming near it will trigger a fight with Limatoukka, a garguantuan, worm-like boss. It boasts a full immunity to Projectile damage and partial resistant to most common types, along with high damage projectiles and a bite attack that will instantly kill you without Melee Immunity.

Defeating the boss will drop a Large Extra Max HP, Full Health Regeneration, a Tier 6 and Tier 10 non-shuffle Wand, this being the only legitimate way to obtain the latter.

Notes

  • The Tower is located directly to the east, surrounded by Cursed Rock.
  • The entire biome is technically edible, as it is all made out of Meat, however, this type of meat inflicts Effect poisoned.png Poisoned upon eating, unless you have Iron Stomach
    • This can also technically be a method of obtaining high satiation levels using the infamous Iron Stomach + Eat Your Vegetables perk combination.
  • This biome can be a very good place to perform the Haavoittajamestari trick, assuming you have killed Kolmisilmän sydän beforehand.

Tips

  • Be very cautious in this area and try not to destroy too much, as the poisonous pus can very easily drain your health.
  • Even in late game, this area is very dangerous due to the presence of dangerous enemies such as Heart Mages and the inability to heal here.
  • Water flasks can easily become unusable if careless, as any Pus that gets inside it will transmute the Water inside into more Pus. A more practical option would be to carry blood to wash off stains.
  • Materials tagged with [fungus] will transmute Pus into more Fungus. Prickly Spore Pod can generate a small amount of it.
  • You can become temporarily immune to poison stains by drinking poison, pus, or ominous liquid if you have the perk Iron Stomach.
  • It is suggested to have enough defensive perks or high health before entering this biome.
  • If you plan on doing a long run, it is recommended to avoid entering the Meat Realm in the early game when your maximum health is low.
  • Although there is an abundance of Giant Worms and Haavoittajamestari that appear here, it is not recommended to perform the heartache trick due to your health being locked.
  • Saving Grace will only be able to activate a single time in this biome. Extra Life can revive you, but it will not heal you to 100 health.
  • You may want to avoid picking up the Full Health Regeneration dropped by Limatoukka early; it does not spawn in parallel worlds, so you will only have one chance to restore your health for the entire duration of your run.
    • The Full Heal from Limatoukka is actually bugged, and currently will not heal any health, even if he is killed outside of the Meat Realm.
