Hahmonvaihtaja (listen Audio.svg) (also known as Shapechanger) is an enemy which appears in the Magical Temple and the Temple of the Art. It can also occasionally spawn in the Snowy Depths as a rare enemy spawn in certain pixel scenes.

Behavior

Floats around firing slow bubble-like projectiles which explode into a purple haze. These bubbles apply the effects of Chaotic Polymorphine to anything they hit.

Oddly, the game treats these bubbles as units, rather than as projectiles. They can be destroyed by dealing damage and will leave behind a Mournful Spirit if you have the perk. However, they don't appear on the Progress screen.

Combat Tips

  • As with anything that involves polymorphing, engage with caution: you can be killed instantly if attacked while in a weak form.
  • The bubbles can be damaged, destroyed, and even Dazed. Destroying the orbs is one form of defense.
  • Homing attacks will seek towards the bubbles, which helps destroy them when they are far away but can pose an additional hazard when nearby.
  • Since they aren't projectiles, the bubbles aren't affected by shields or Projectile Repulsion Field.

Trivia

  • If killed, Shapechanger's body can be eaten. It is made out of Cursed Meat (Dry) and will grant the Effect curse cloud.png Rain curse effect that spawns a rain cloud that follows you. If the duration of the Rain curse is higher than 14s the rain cloud will turn into a thunder cloud that occasionally will shoot lightning. If it's higher than 44s the thunder cloud will turn into an acid cloud. As acid eats through Brickwork, this could be useful to cut paths through the Temple of The Art in a pinch.
