Brickwork

Brickwork is a category of materials which all have the same name and similar dull, tan coloured brickwork textures and properties, used for many temple-like structures in the game.

Hard Variants

Harder variants of brickwork are most often present in areas to serve as an impassable boundary, as well as to mark important locations like spell shops or altars. Harder variants are an extremely hard, rock-like terrain, which can only be destroyed by Acid or especially effective digging spells (for example: Luminous Drill, Black Hole, or Matter Eater). As such, it functions similar to Extremely Dense Rock; an impassable barrier for most newer players and for the early game, until more effective means of digging are discovered.

Digging through some parts of the Brickwork that comprises the shop area of a Holy Mountain may anger the Gods, and cause Stevari to start spawning in the current and all future Holy Mountain shop areas in response.

Soft Variants

Portions of the Pyramid, Temple of the Art, and the small section of a Holy Mountain between the Worm Crystal and the fish pool are blocked off with a softer variant of Brickwork that is more easily dug out than the normal Brickwork variants. Energy Orb, Dropper Bolt, Bombs, or Magic Missile will usually be sufficient to dig out these softer forms of Brickwork.

These types of brickwork usually have a slightly different texture that may only be noticeable in areas where the two types of brickwork are presented closely together.

Other Variants

These variants of brickwork stand out by having distinctly different properties.

  • The Broken variant has the least durability of all brickworks.
  • The Red and Prop variants appear to be unused.
  • The Kickable variant is found as kickable slabs in the Desert.
