Teleportitis Dodge
Teleportitis Dodge is a considerably more predictable and safe version of the perk Teleportitis, instead activating before the source of damage occurs (if that damage would be from a projectile), teleporting a far shorter distance than its counterpart.
Perk Behavior
Indicating the perk to be active, a translucent purple circle will be displayed around the player. This circle represents the closest a projectile can get to the player before the effect is activated. The effect takes 130 frames (approximately 2 seconds) to recharge after it has been activated.
The teleportation direction can be reliably aimed. The direction will be determined as follows:
- 90 degrees away from the player's cursor, relative to their body, clockwise when to the cursor is left of them, counter-clockwise when the cursor is right of them.
If the chosen direction of teleportation would be toward or through terrain, the dodge will be interrupted, only going as far as the player may before intersecting with it. This can sometimes result in no distance traveled at all if the chosen direction were, for instance, toward the terrain they are standing upon.
Usage
Teleportitis dodge will almost always result in complete negation of all but the slowest of projectiles, and the effect will occur entirely irrespective of the projectile's speed, making it a highly reliable asset to one's survivability, at the expense of some loss of intuitive control when under a lot of fire.
Having this perk effectively increases the distance at which the player should stay away from dangerous materials such as Polymorphine. Unexpected projectiles could result in a short teleport toward a material the player otherwise was a safe distance from.
Under the aforementioned additional caution after having picked up the perk, the player's survivability will drastically increase, particularly in biomes wherein lots of projectile attacks are of threat, such as the Snowy Depths.
Tips
Simple angles can be learned quickly by the user to traverse in cardinal directions for the purpose of evading enemies or moving quickly.
- Slightly to the left of straight down: The player moves left.
- Slightly to the right of straight down: The player moves right.
- Straight left, or straight right: The player moves up.
