Explosion of Thunder
Explosion of Thunder is a Static Projectile type spell that creates a series of damaging electrical explosions that pulverises nearby terrain into dust. As well as being highly damaging, this spell inflicts the Stunned effect on any nearby creature (including you) that is not immune to both explosives and electricity. This effect will stun even if the target has immunity to shocking.
Effect sequence
While alive the unmodified projectile lives for 3 frames, dies on collision with terrain or entities, falls due to gravity, and applies the Stunned effect to entities within a square area ±36 pixels from itself. If modified, any damage added is also applied over this smaller area.
Over a wider area (a square of ±96 pixels), it inflicts 10 Electricity damage every frame. This damage can be blocked by immunity to Electricity.
Upon death the projectile explodes, inflicting 45 Explosion damage to entities within an explosion radius of 28 pixels. A secondary scripted effect runs when the projectile is removed. This creates 4 Lightning Bolts, starting from the projectile's former location and emanating outwards at roughly 90 degree intervals. Each of the 4 has the potential to do 25 Electricity and 125 Explosion damage, but they don't always all hit.
The primary explosion can be enhanced with one copy of Explosive Projectile, boosting its damage to 325. The secondary Lightning Bolt projectiles cannot be modified.
Tips
- A Trigger spell, such as Spark Bolt With Trigger, is highly recommended in order to cast this effect at range
- The damage radius of this explosion is enormous, much more than the appearance of the explosion would suggest. This makes it easily able to hit every enemy in a group, or even enemies without line of sight, but you will probably need to pair a wand using this with one better suited for close quarters combat.
- Explosion of Thunder causes heavy damage, and is by far the most dangerous in the Explosion spell series. It is also the most costly to fire at 110 mana, so take great care when you use it.
- The explosion also Powderizes solid materials, but makes them retain their properties. Be careful casting around cursed rock!
- Powders created with this spell cannot be picked up with a Powder Pouch.
- If you become buried in the powder, digging yourself out will require the same digging strength as for the original material - you can become trapped.
