Spells useful primarily for changing the point of origin of other spells, most of which employ an Expiration Trigger to do so.

Long-Distance Cast is a Utility type spell that creates a very fast, very short-lived, and very purple, Penetrating projectile with an Expiration Trigger. The high speed and low lifetime of the projectile make it appear to instantly cast its payload, 66px ahead of you, but unlike Warp Cast and Teleporting Cast there's no scripted effect to move the projectile - just raw speed.

Almost uniquely, this projectile has the 'Penetrate World' property, allowing it to move far quicker through solid terrain than Drilling Shot would allow.

Tips

  • Can be used to cast melee spells like Chainsaw or Luminous drill from a distance, becoming a useful weapon as these spells can be cast at rapid fire speeds.
  • Synergizes well with dangerous static projectiles, like Explosion and most of its variants.
    • Does not cast far enough to make Explosion of Thunder safe to use, however.
    • Also makes Touch of Water and related spells almost entirely safe to cast - but beware that it can still bounce off of shields.
  • Like other Trigger spells, it will ignore the cast delay modifiers of the spells it contains.
  • Starts off moving at Terminal Velocity (the maximum speed of a projectile) so Speed increasing modifiers have no effect on range.
  • To increase range, instead use modifiers that increase lifetime, e.g. Increase Lifetime, Null Shot, or Phasing Arc.
  • The projectile has the 'Penetrate World' property, and can be used to cast a payload through walls.
    • The distance travelled through solid terrain is lower than through air (and varies based on the density of the material it travels through).
    • It does move faster than a projectile with the Drilling Shot modifier applied.
  • Can be used alongside (Small) Teleport Bolt or Return to infinitely travel through walls without destroying anything. This can be used to travel back to Holy Mountains without it collapsing or angering the gods
    • This can be done either by clearing the mud in the pools of water and casting through the brickwork or by teleporting past the vertical barrier on the right of the temple
    • Swapper could also be used, though this would also require enemies or props on the other side of the Holy Mountain, or could be done using spells that summon entities such as Summon Fish/Rock
  • When combined with damage enhancement modifiers, it can deal damage through walls.
    • Combining this with Increase Lifetime can turn it into a deadly laser that passes through walls and doesn't destroy props, including potions.
  • When used with limited-use modifiers, e.g. Matter Eater, it can make that modifier unlimited. E.g. a wand with just Matter Eater and Long-Distance Cast on it will not deplete the remaining charges from the Matter Eater. However, if there are any other projectiles on the wand that are cast, this effect will not work.
  • Can only hit individual enemies one time each, which becomes noticeable when used with damage modifiers or Add Trigger. See Piercing and Penetrating for details.
