Increase Lifetime

Increase Lifetime is a projectile modifier spell that causes affected projectiles to exist longer before timing out and dissipating. Unlike the other modifiers that increase lifetime this has no effect on projectile path or damage, the only drawbacks being the rather high 40 mana required per cast, and a bit of extra cast delay.
Most projectiles will still be removed upon collision with enemies, regardless of any extension to their lifetime, unless they have the property of Piercing or Penetrating - or are modified with Piercing Shot. Similarly, most projectiles will be removed when hitting terrain, these can be modified with Drilling Shot or Bounce to get maximum value from the increased lifetime.
Tips
- This modifier is best used for projectiles with a high speed that do not travel very far before dissipating. This includes melee ranged spells like Chainsaw or Luminous Drill, which turns them into highly effective ranged projectiles. Black Hole is another common use.
- It has a hefty mana drain, so it's not suitable for rapid fire wands unless you're also using an Add Mana modifier.
- Is a core ingredient in infinite lifetime spells.
