Hole-y spells.

White Hole is a projectile spell which creates a compact, player-safe, orb of high energy physics. The effects of the spell's slow-moving, off-white projectile are essentially identical to those of Black Hole, with one key difference: instead of pulling entities inward, they are pushed away. This includes other White Holes - they repel each other quite violently.

Similar to Black Hole, White Hole has a larger (and more dangerous) counterpart - Giga White Hole.

Tips

  • This spell has a very high mana cost, and may spawn on a wand with insufficient mana to cast it successfully. In such a case you'll need to find a higher capacity wand and combine the two when wand editing is possible, e.g. at a Holy Mountain unless you have the Tinker with Wands Everywhere perk.
  • The short default range can be improved by using spells, e.g. Speed Up or Light Shot. Accelerating Shot, Gravity or other modifiers which add a constant accelleration are even more effective.
  • If the white hole travels into unloaded chunks it will stop digging but continue traveling. This produces a distinctive vertical wall where it reaches a chunk border. In order to increase the effectiveness of your white holes you should avoid this by trying to stay close to them, loading the chunks that you are digging in to - True Orbit is ideal for this.
  • White Hole is one of the few spells than can dig through both Extremely Dense Rock and Cursed Rock. It is able to destroy almost every material in the game (other than SPOILER: sun gems in sun quest ) which can lead to accidental destruction of quest items or other valuable objects.
  • The Projectile Repulsion Sector perk and Projectile Repulsion Field perks both greatly accelerates White Hole, and in turn the range it covers during its duration.
  • The repulsion effect will push away anything affected by gravity that comes near. This includes projectiles (both those of enemies, and your own), gold nuggets, items and potions. Enemies themselves are not affected, but corpses are.
  • Since potions are fragile they're more than likely to get smashed in the process (and White Hole doesn't delete liquids), so take care around bottles of dangerous liquids.
  • Casting near explosives or a large number of enemy projectiles typically leads to a swift death.
  • This spell is not affected by the Unlimited Spells perk, but can be manipulated to cast without remaining charges using Greek letter spells, like Gamma.
  • Synergises with True Orbit, the orbiting White Holes benefit from the increased lifetime, and produce an effect similar to Projectile Repulsion Field, shielding you from enemy fire.
  • White Hole has the same lifetime and lifetime randomness as Black Hole, and can be given [lifetime] using the same modifiers.
  • The gravitational repulsion effect of White Hole can be used to accelerate projectiles. This can be used to avoid projectiles dying due to an initially low or zero speed, and provide them with a large initial speed boost.
  • The repulsion effect also can change the path of many spells which are usually unaffected by homing or path modifications, e.g. Giga Death Cross.
