Wild magic that casts other spells at random, either from the wand itself or from a particular subset. Ignores both mana drain and charges of actual copied spell, and are unlocked by killing Kolmisilmän koipi.

Chaos Magic is a projectile modifier that casts 1 of 25 spells when the affected spell's projectile expires or hits an enemy. This spell is affected by the Unlimited Spells perk.

Tips

  • Explosion Immunity will massively improve your chances of survival when casting this spell.
  • This spell is capable of endlessly spawning projectiles from its pool, even though some of them usually have charges.
  • Despite the spell's description, Chaos Magic only spawns its projectile once any of the projectiles that are modified by it hit something or die.
    • Bouncing off of terrain doesn't activate the modifier's effect, but simply colliding with terrain does activate it.
    • With Piercing Shot and, ideally, some form of Homing, a projectile can activate Chaos Magic's projectile spawning multiple times.
    • Multiple copies of Chaos Magic on the same projectile will have no additional effect.
    • The projectile chosen by Chaos Magic is decided randomly on spawn and doesn't change over time. Each projectile affected by Chaos Magic is essentially "assigned" its own random projectile to spawn on hit.
  • Chaos Magic also has the property of overwriting other entities normally created by projectiles on hit. This can cause some odd effects when combined with certain projectiles.
    • Prickly Spore Pod will no longer create its growing mushroom entity upon collision.
    • Thunder Charge will still explode, but will not fire out several lightning bolts.

Trivia

  • This spell is titled random_explosion in the files of the game, despite the fact that many of the spells in its pool are entirely non-explosive.
