Black Hole is a projectile spell which summons a dark, slow moving orb, attracting objects and consuming any solid terrain in its path (does not destroy liquids or gasses). It is not affected by gravity, but is affected by the object attraction of other black holes, producing highly erratic and dangerous results. Despite its similarity to Giga Black Hole, this more contained version does no damage to enemies or you.

It has a death trigger variant which behaves nearly the same way, but costs 20 additional mana and will cast the next spell in the spell block when the black hole expires. This can produce many useful effects, such as chaining multiple of these together to create a very long tunnel without the use of a speed increasing spell.

Tips

  • Can spawn in wands that do not have enough max mana to cast it, especially in Mines. However, it is still a good idea to take it until reaching the Holy Mountain, in order to tinker with it there.
  • Spell modifiers which speed up the black hole such as Speed Up or Light Shot, greatly extend the reach of a single black hole, making it equivalent to multiple casts. Even more effective are modifiers which accelerate it such as Accelerating Shot or Gravity, however, the acceleration can easily take it into unloaded chunks.
  • If the black hole travels into unloaded chunks it will stop digging but continue traveling. This produces a distinctive vertical wall where it reaches a chunk border. In order to increase the effectiveness of your black holes you should avoid this by trying to stay close to them, loading the chunks that you are digging into.
  • The Black Hole is one of the few spells than can dig through both Extremely Dense Rock and Cursed Rock, it is able to destroy every solid material other than SPOILER: sun gems in sun quest .
  • The Projectile Repulsion Sector perk and Projectile Repulsion Field perks both greatly accelerates Black Hole, and in turn the range it covers during its duration. However, they can also easily skew its trajectory, so this isn't the best of ideas if you're trying to carefully drill.
  • The attraction effect will draw in anything affected by gravity that comes near, including but not exclusive to: projectiles, gold nuggets, items and potions. Since potions are highly fragile they're more than likely to get smashed in the process, so take care. Casting near explosives or a large number of enemy projectiles typically leads to a swift death.
  • It will not be made unlimited by the Unlimited Spells perk, but can be manipulated to cast without remaining charges using Greek letter spells, like Alpha or Gamma, or multicast with charges remaining alongside Wand Refresh to avoid depleting them in the first place.
