Acid Ball is a spell that leaves a slight trace of Acid behind it, and explodes into more Acid on contact with environment or entities.

Tips

  • Since Acid Balls burst on contact with any other entity, shooting them mid-flight can be useful to defend yourself against enemies which use them.
  • The Acid they produce dissolves anything tagged [corrodible], which includes most materials, with the notable exceptions of Glass, Dense Rock, and Extremely Dense Rock, making this spell useful to dig through steel or brickwork.
  • When equipped on a wand, the wand will slowly leak flammable gas.
  • Applying Piercing Shot has a surprising effect, disabling apparent collisions with enemies and you (rather than enabling repeated collisions), as well as extending the projectile's effective lifetime considerably. Pairs well with additional modifiers like Homing and Damage Field. Pairing with Add Trigger may be more difficult than on other projectiles, as the natural deceleration appears to deactivate the triggering ability once the speed is low enough, and any projectiles spawned may collide with the original projectile.
  • Paired with Projectile Energy Shield or Nolla, will immediately burst when cast; as the payload of a trigger projectile, this acts decently both as an attack and digging tool.
  • Trigger projectiles with friendly fire enabled can hit and trigger on Acid Balls, enabling a less convenient and less reliable alternative version of a Pollen feedback loop that can also produce significant quantities of acid. In some applications where Pollen would require Piercing Shot or Bloodlust to enable projectiles to hit it, Acid Shot does not require anything or may require only a damage adjustment such as that from Damage Plus.
