Skoude
Skoude (listen ) (lit. Cop, sometimes referred to as Scott or Big Steve) is a significantly stronger variant of Stevari, which will spawn in its place in Holy Mountains after angering the gods if at least 3 Stevari have been killed already.
After killing 3 separate instances of Stevari that were spawned from a Holy Mountain, you receive the message:
The gods are enraged
After this, all further Holy Mountains will instead spawn Skoude. Additionally, further damaging Holy Mountain brickwork after this event will give the message:
The gods are very angry with you
Behaviour & Combat
Skoude is significantly stronger than Stevari, with 900 HP and two layers of shielding. In addition, it is completely immune to all freeze and electrical stun effects. Upon gaining line of sight with you, Skoude will start dissolving all terrain around itself, including Holy Mountain brickwork and physics objects. As a result, landing a hit with an Emerald Tablet is generally quite difficult, but can be done by teleporting to the portal Skoude emerges from before they spawn, and throwing the tablet.
Similarly to Stevari, Skoude has a long range and a short range attack. At long range, Skoude casts a pair of quickly accelerating explosive projectiles, which explode into a spread of 12 bubbles on impact. At short range, it shoots out similar little sparks to Stevari, though they are more damaging than those used by Stevari.
Tips
- Protection from all from Ambrosia will keep you safe, but be cautious of Skoude's terrain destruction capabilities.
- Any kind of Plasma Beam spell, especially with a Homing modifier, will be quite effective.
- A Homing modifier on a Rock can be effective, but Skoude's terrain destruction can extend to physics bodies as well, if it's already chasing you. To avoid this cast the rock before being seen, then stay out of sight.
- Skoude will activate its matter eater field and follow you even when you are invisible, but will not attack.
- Since Skoude bleeds solid Bone Dust, some wands built to hit multiple times with the same projectile will not work as well without a Drilling Shot modifier, as the projectiles hitting the dust is treated like hitting terrain.
- Taking the Peace with Gods perk will stop Skoude from spawning, just like Stevari, but any existing Skoude will become Charmed making a powerful ally.
- Skoude can be avoided entirely by either not killing a third Stevari instead leaving any future Stevari alive.
- Stevari killed while Polymorphed will not increase the Stevari kill counter, allowing Skoude to be avoided.
Soundtrack
While fighting Skoude, the music from track 16 of Noita Official Soundtrack vol. 3 titled You Have Angered the Gods[1] is played.
