Temple of Sacrilegious Remains

The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains is an endgame biome for the Apotheosis Mod located west of the Desert at the bottom of The Sinkhole. It is a dangerous late game biome full of dangerous enemies, and hazards.

When entering the biome the player will be given the Gloomy Biome Modifier, obscuring the players vision.

Layout

The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains takes on the appearance of a dark catacomb, consisting of halls similar to that of Wizard Den. Large red glowing windows are found throughout the biome that emit faint red particles and light, these windows are only aesthetic and don't do anything else besides light the area.

The Biome is primarily made of Bloody Brickwork which leaks Infectious Blood a liquid which converts almost all other liquids in the game to itself, rendering strategies involving Invisibility & Ambrosia non viable, and forcing you to traverse the biome while stained with blood making you extremely vulnerable to Effect lively hex.png Lively Hex, which is given by several enemies found within the biome.

Bloodied Brickwork is also highly resistant to most digging in the game, including Black Hole, but is not immune to being transmuted into other materials such as through Touch of Spells. The walls can also be corroded through with Acid Ball or any environmental corroding method, any matter eater will also eat through the brick, Earthquake may also fracture the brickwork and allow you to carve a path through, making the Tannerkivi very useful here.

Numerous patches of the Vacilating Flesh material can be found across the biome and in the walls, this fleshy material is significantly easier to break than Bloodied Brickwork, with it being able to be dug up by most common methods, providing an alternative method through the walls. Digging any flesh will cause mass amounts of Infectious Blood to pour out as response. Patches of flesh will often spawn with wart like pustules on them, walking directly in front of these pustules will cause them to fire a fleshly tentacle at you. This may prove hard to avoid given the mass amount of flesh found in the biome and the pustules difficulty to spot.

The "Prison" is a set piece that spawns at the center of The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains containing the imprisoned Kerettiläinenhirviö in chains.

The prison set piece itself is a circular room with four entrances on each side, in each corner there are markings that spell out the phrase "SEAL" when translated.

Despite the Heretical Monster Boss being here imprisoned, it cannot be fought, instead you must pick up the Orb from the Orb Room found in the temple to activate their fight.

When returning after Kerettiläinenhirviö has been freed the "Prison" will be empty.

Strategy

  • It is highly recommended for your first time entering the biome that you enter with a Vuoksikivi, in order to remove any unwanted bloody stains you may receive while traversing through the biome, this is important because if you are Hexed with Bloody Hex it may be difficult to un-stain yourself while you are in the biome, leading to massive percentage damage. Caution should be taken to not get hexed with both Bloody Hex and Water Hex at the same time, as then your only options will be to hover off the ground while out healing the damage as touching the liquid deals flat damage akin to lava.
  • Acquiring All Seeing Eye before going into the temple will help greatly, as the biome is dark otherwise, and you will likely not see projectiles being launched in your direction without it, or be able to see or dodge the many fields given off by Wand Stealing Crystals.
  • The use of a long range teleport wand may be used to by pass through walls by teleporting through them, allowing for easy escape in a bad situation, and faster traversal of the biome.
  • The Tannerkivi can be used to cause earthquakes in the brickwork to allow for digging through especially dense walls. The earthquake detritus may also be used to collapse an entrance separating you from the countless enemies found within the biome, serving a momentary shelter to heal.
  • The Wand Stealing Crystals found within the biome and the Corrupt Master of Puppeteering both have the ability to steal the wand of the player turning it into a Taikasauva which may be very lethal or inconveniencing, depending on what you had on the wand. However, they cannot steal the players wand if they are not currently holding one, they are also incapable of stealing anything that isn't a wand, so if the player holds a item and walks past they are completely harmless besides minor damage.
  • Various enemies in the biome can disable teleporting, healing, and the firing of wands, for an extended period of time, making it preferable to not get hit by any Corrupt Master projectiles, having a shield greatly helps with this.
  • The Corrupt Master of Grounding has the ability to disable shields if you stand in a range next to them for too long.
  • Having a healing wand greatly helps in the healing of damage, this is important because if you reach 0 HP you die.
  • It is recommended to not enter the biome if you do not have enough damage output to kill most enemies in a single shot, many of the Corrupt Masters create a shield that increases the further it is shot at after the first hit, making them seem extremely tanky, additionally many enemies found within the biome have more health than Suomuhauki.
  • It is recommended that you explore around the world, building yourself up to be powerful enough before you come here, so that you will not have difficulty in traversal.
  • Having a large area encompassing attack wand, or a homing wand is not recommended. The enemy Alkeeminen Outo which are frequently found in the biome, will hex the player with a different hex for every time they are hit directly by a projectile made by the player. These hexes almost always include Bloody Hex.
  • The tentacles sent out by the fleshy walls as you walk around the biome can stun you and knock you out of the air into a bad situation. There is no real good strategy to counter this besides spotting them which may be difficult when action is happening, as well as the fact they're everywhere.
  • The angular paths found within the temple very often create bottle necks with wand stealing crystals, and things with large status effect fields through walls. None of these status fields are able hurt you if you aren't holding a wand, however combined with enemies they can render you helpless, unable to reach what is causing the field on the other side of the wall. Because of this something to get through walls is almost necessary.
