Sinkhole

The Sinkhole is a biome located to the far East of the map inside a giant hole in the Desert, There are two different biomes inside of the sinkhole, the "sinkhole" biome, and the "sand temple" biome, both however are just called "Sinkhole" in game but are different in many ways.

The mouth of the Sinkhole is a sharp incline in the sand spanning a large distance, at the bottom of this drop is the Sinkhole Biome. To the left of the hole is the Watch Tower & Pyramid. To the right of the hole is "The Sleep Altar" & East Wall with ??? along its side containing the Essence of Earth.

Enemies commonly leak out of the sinkhole and plague the lands above. Caution should be taken when going near the Sinkhole to not draw their attention. Sinkhole enemies are much stronger than enemies found on the normal route, and may be too tanky to kill, and too fast to outrun, potentially killing an unprepared player in one hit if they are noticed, with very little you can do.

Getting over the Sinkhole

Getting over the Sinkhole is risky without a proper teleport wand. Falling into the Sinkhole may kill anyone who isn't prepared, and falling down without a way to teleport back out makes getting out alive very difficult, as you would have to slowly climb up the side of the wall, likely getting killed by a Sinkhole native along the way, however there are some methods this guide may teach you.

Why cross at all you may be asking? Well on the other side of the Sinkhole is the "Sleep Altar" giving you a full heal, a flask of Apotheosis's Mimicium, and a wand, if you are able to successfully solve it. (The act of cloning any liquid may be highly sought after this early in the game.)

  • If you have acquired a flask of Soarium, you may stain yourself with it and easily fly over the hole. Caution should be taken to watch if anything is shooting at you from inside the hole, if you are hit by something down below, and just so happen to fall stunned into the hole. o7
  • If you have a tablet, it is possible to make it to the other side of the sinkhole by throwing the tablet at your feet, and immediately kicking it and surfing it to regain levitation. This tactic is not full proof and many things can go wrong, first off Sinkhole natives are not always in the hole, and may be flying around outside it, ready to attack you. You must just hope this is not the case.
  • Traversing inside the hole when you are not ready should be a last resort, many things found within the Sinkhole will never stop following you due to them being faster than you without a teleport wand meaning you cant shake them, so this really isn't an option, but there is still the slim chance you get out successfully in which case god speed to you!

Sinkhole

After dropping into the giant hole from the surface you will enter the Sinkhole Biome made of sparse floating islands. Some weaker enemies found in The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains appear here.

Layout - Sinkhole

The Sinkhole Interior consists of a series of floating sand islands similar to that of Cloudscape. It is mostly void of space and has very little to offer besides abundant flying enemies similar to Cloudscape.

Many Etsijä are found here, bunching together and forming large clusters.

Sandy Temple

The "Sandy Temple" is a sub biome found to the left of the bottom of the Sinkhole, it forms a trail connecting up with The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains. Many enemies native to the temple are found here, although in less intense numbers.

Layout - Sandy Temple

The "Sandy Temple" is a sandier non bloodied version of The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains, instead of being made of Bloodied Brickwork it is made of Sandy Brickwork, which is still extremely sturdy, only being able to be dug through using exclusively Black Hole and all other methods that would normally work with Bloodied Brickwork.

Instead of turning liquids into Infectious Blood Sandy Brickwork will turn liquids into sand, creating a very small barrier between the liquid and walls.

Large shattered windows are found through the biome, serving as an alternate to the large red glowing windows found in The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains these windows are purely aesthetic and do not do anything as far as can be discerned. The area behind the shattered window is pitch black, it can be assumed there are probably rooms in the background its connecting up to.

The biome is composed of the same generation found in the The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains however various elements such as Vacilating Flesh patches and their associated pustule traps are not found here. There are also no Wand Stealing Crystals or any enemy with the wand stealing ability, making the biome much safer.

Various enemies give the Effect lively hex.png Lively Hex status upon hitting you, however this effect is more bearable than in The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains due to the lack of blood.

Strategy

  • This biome serves as a good prep for if you are ready to enter The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains, due to sharing similar enemies and layout. If you cannot kill the enemies it is not recommended you go there.
  • Kirottuolento (Cursed Being) have the ability to apply the Effect lively hex.png Lively Hex status when hitting the player, while this status is not as lethal as in The Temple of Sacrilegious Remains due to the walls not staining you with blood, it can still deal large amounts damage very fast.
  • Mana Draining Crystals are found frequently throughout this biome on the opposite side of walls, and around corners. It is recommended that you have something to dig through the walls with in order to deal with them.
  • Inside the walls are patches of solid sand, allowing for easy excavation.
  • The biome is significantly more spaced out in enemies than its counterpart, making traversal much easier.
