The Giant Toxic Worm (in-game name Jättiläinen myrkyllinen mato) is a worm-like boss encountered in the Toxic Worm Nest to the south east of the Coal Pits. It has a dangerous worm bite and spits out blobs of toxic sludge as it moves, and is summoned from a giant toxic 'egg'. In order to spawn the boss from the 'egg', the player must get within close distance to the 'egg', after which the boss will appear.

Behaviour & Combat

Once the Center egg in the Toxic Worm Nest is approached, the Boss will emerge and the fight will start.

The Boss will regularly charge at the player in an attempt to deal easily fatal melee damage, in addition to regularly spitting out 10 projectiles from it's tail which create plentiful amounts of toxic sludge to flood the area. It will also regularly spawn miniature Toxic Worms every 10 seconds to further complicate the fight.

Slice damage may want to be avoided here as it produces large quantities of additional toxic sludge on impact, however, this can be off-set by using a flask of water liberally to convert the toxic sludge into more water.

Rewards

  • The Fungal Shift spell
  • The Mass Materia Conversion spell
  • Extra Max Health
  • A powerful tier 4 No-Shuffle Wand
  • Decaying Meat

Tips

  • Touch of spells can kill this boss instantly
  • Melee Immunity makes the fight much, much safer
  • Ambrosia may not provide much use here, as it will quickly be washed off by the Boss's copious amounts of Toxic Sludge
  • On the contrary, water may be useful for reacting with the toxic sludge and transforming it into more harmless water
  • Consider drinking worm blood for wormy vision, unless you have All-seeing eye to see the giant toxic worm inside the walls. It is extremely easy to die if it catches you off-guard.
  • If you don't have through-walls sight, stay away from all walls as it can easily kill you instantly with a melee attack
  • The giant toxic worm flies so it's not possible to get it stuck like other worm-type enemies.
  • It has considerably more turn speed so stay further away from it if you're attempting to dodge it.
  • It is not affected by the pull of Giga Black Hole.
  • If you have any spells such as Freezing Gaze or Freeze Charge, you can freeze the giant toxic worm and fly into its main body for a kick, dealing massive damage, similar to other worm-type enemies. This will take away nearly all of its health, making the fight much easier.
  • After death, the worm's meat can be eaten to gain temporary toxic immunity

Trivia

  • Below the Worm's egg lay glyphs, which read "Do you see the musical stone in the sands?"
  • If you attempt to summon the Toxic Worm with MOTDs turned on, it's the 1st or 31st of a month and it's 3am, 10 toxic worms will spawn instead of just one
