Lucky Day

Lucky Day is a passive Perk that allows the user to rarely ignore damage sources. This block chance increases depending on how much damage you're taking compared to your current HP; the chance is 50% when the damage taken is equal to your current health and can increase further, up to a 75% chance on its own.

Notes

  • The formula for calculating the chance to block any damage source is (d*0.5)/h, where d is the damage being taken and h is the user's current health. This chance cannot go lower than 1% or higher than 75%, unless the user has Lucky Clover.
    • Lucky Day's calculations will take place before that of Stainless Armor, meaning that the block chance will stay the same even if the actual damage taken is halved with Stainless Armour.
    • Lucky Day will still attempt to protect the player if Ambrosia or Statium is active, even if a successful block will have little to no effect.
  • Since the damage taken can sometimes be much larger than the user's health, especially with hazards such as propane tanks, Lucky Day may save the user from taking immense amounts of damage in one frame.
  • Since Midas damage always damages the target by 100x their current HP, the block chance for Lucky Day will always be locked to the max.
  • Lucky Day does not block damage less than 2, so small amounts of damage per second such as that dealt by Fire and Toxic Sludge will not be blocked unless the user has very high max health.

Interactions

  • Lucky Clover changes the block chance by a constant +10%. This raises both the minimum and maximum block chance, raising the minimum chance to 11% (from 1%), and increasing the maximum to 85% (from 75%).
  • Saving Grace synergizes very well with this perk. If Saving Grace saves the player from death, Lucky Day may keep them alive until they heal again, since the block chance will nearly always be at max when the player is at 1 HP.

Trivia

  • This perk is a reference to the badge of the same name from the Paper Mario series, which functions similarly here as it did as an equippable badge.
