Water Mages (in-game name Vesimagi) can most frequently be found in the Sunken Cavern, but can also rarely be seen in the Temple of the Art and Mines.
Behavior
Water Mages will generally keep their distance from the player and repeatedly zone them out by firing Suffocating Pylons towards them.
These projectiles will rapidly decelerate and remain stationary for an extended period of time, creating a field around them which applies the Suffocating status effect as a stain to anything which gets close, they can also explode on contact.
While dangerous close up, they can struggle to reach the player at longer distances, so it may be safest to engage them from afar.
Combat Tips
- As the suffocation effect they apply is a stain, it can easily be washed off with any other material from your flask.
- If the player Fungal Shifts Suffocatium out of the world, their pylon's suffocating aura will be replaced with the shifted liquid.
- For example, if Suffocatium was replaced with Healthium, Water Mages would provide an endless source of the Regeneration status.
- Like other water elementals, they take severe damage when submerged in Concentrated Mana.
- The Breathless perk provides immunity to the suffocating status they cause.
