Racetrack

The Racetrack is a hidden location found within the left wall of the Chasm between the Lava Lake and the Snowy Depths.

It can be found via a crack in the wall which leads to a small racetrack area where you'll find a small racing cart. This race cart automatically re-orients itself according to mouse movement while you are holding a wand, and accelerates whenever you levitate, in whichever direction it happens to be pointing.

Racing

Within the background design of the racetrack are small dials which function as timers, and will track lap times, as well as keeping track of the best time achieved thus far. The three timers are, in order:

  • Segment Time
  • Lap Time
  • Best Time

The track can be raced either clockwise or counter clockwise, and the dials will keep track of the lap time. The outer ring counts tenths of seconds, the middle ring seconds and the center displays 10, 20 or 30 seconds depending on size. It cannot count higher than 39.9 seconds.

Other cart uses

  • The race cart is not confined to this area, and can be taken outside it with some careful navigating. It is impervious to everything in the world, colliding harmlessly with solid walls and surfaces, but has been known to break or bump Potions on occasion, so take care of it when bringing it out for adventures.
  • The race cart can carry Kauhuhirviö and make it invincible. That may be helpful to move it from the Friend Room to accomplish the diamond quest in The Tower.

Trivia

  • In the game's code, Antti Tiihonen (the developer that coded this segment) left a comment that his best lap-time is a 9.2 [1]
  • The little race cart has no official name, but the community has affectionately dubbed it Karl.
  • The dials reuse the sprites (graphics) of the Enemy Radar perk.
