Mod Restrictions
Mod Restrictions are limitations placed on the game that disable certain things when a non-translation mod is enabled. One of the main things disabled is Steam and GOG Achievements. A more in-depth list can be found below.
Limitations
- It will say "Mods enabled: yes" in the bottom left
- Gameplay records shown at the end of runs are not saved
- Win-streaks are not incremented
- Steam/GOG Achievements are not granted
- Creation of Bones files
- The Afraid, Impressed and Curious messages from the Gods
- The spawning of the Eye Messages
- The spawning of the Cauldron Room
The only gameplay-affecting changes are disabling the creation of the Bones files and disabling the spawning of the Cauldron Room
The messages from the gods, Eye Messages and Cauldron Room are likely disabled to keep them more secret/hidden
The Bones files are likely disabled to prevent modded content that could potentially be disabled later on from being in the pool of wands that Kummitus could pull from
Gameplay records, Win-streaks and Achievements are disabled for obvious reasons as to avoid muddying the achievements and efforts of those playing the vanilla game
Requirements
Requirements for triggering Mod Restrictions are quite simple, you must have a non-translation-only mod.
A translation-only mod is a mod that has is_translation="1"
set in its mod.xml file, this will make it ignore the init.lua, settings.xml and basically everything other than the translation.csv file.
Disabling Mod Restrictions
There are two mods made by the community to disable mod restrictions. However, due to their nature, they are "Unsafe" and thus cannot be posted on the Steam Workshop. Instead they must be installed manually, for help see How to install mods
- Disable Mod Restrictions (Steam and GOG). Available on the Steam Workshop and Modworkshop
- Nathan's Noita Patcher (Steam and GOG)
