奇妙なキノコ, Green Fungus, 謎のキノコ, and Secret Creeping Fungus are 粉末 materials found in various biomes around the world.

Behaviour

Most fungus variants, if ingested, cause you to receive the Effect trip.png 軽快 status effect. This causes visual and aural distortions. If further amounts are ingested, the distortions increase, and at high levels of the Tripping status, strange eyes will open and close at random in the background, with an accompanying sound effect. When the tripping status progresses to Effect trip.png マジ軽快 (180s), a キノコシフト will occur.

Fungus is highly flammable and will quickly burn away if exposed to 炎 or 溶岩.

All powder variants of Fungus have a very rare chance of appearing as a ランダム資材ポーション in a 宝箱 or 大いなる宝箱.

Despite 謎のキノコ and Secret Creeping Fungus being coded to stain entities with Effect polymorph.png 多形体, this behaviour is actually never observed in-game because neither variant is able to stain creatures.

奇妙なキノコ

奇妙なキノコ is an odd pink material that can most commonly be found in the 真菌洞窟 and 生い茂った洞窟, because it grows quickly from the 真菌の土 found there. It can be easily walked through, although it does not provide air and can cause suffocation if one remains inside it for too long.

Unlike most materials, it will slowly grow upwards, usually forming slender columns. If a moderate amount falls down due to the ground beneath it being destroyed, the movement seems to accelerate its growth, quickly generating massive spires of pink fungus. Pouring it from a 粉末ポーチ from great height can create massive towers of fungus.

Aside from the 真菌洞窟, it also has a chance to appear in a rare structure found in the 鉱山 or in a random 粉末ポーチ on a pedestal.

謎のキノコ

謎のキノコ behaves very similarly to 奇妙なキノコ, including the effect of ingesting it, with the additional quirk that it will convert many other liquids and powders into more of itself quite rapidly. It can be created by mixing 猛毒ヘドロ, キノコの血 and 砂. If a キノコシフト occurs that removes 奇妙なキノコ and キノコの血 from the world, 謎のキノコ will remain, which can make it a useful tool for sustained shifts (though note that the 謎のキノコ must be made before キノコの血 has been shifted away).

Green Fungus

Green Fungus is a rarer variant of 奇妙なキノコ, and behaves in a very similar fashion. It can be found naturally lining rare cave structures in the 鉱山 and 崩壊した鉱山. Like 謎のキノコ, it will not be removed if 奇妙なキノコ is removed with a キノコシフト.

Secret Creeping Fungus

Secret Creeping Fungus is a very rare variant of Fungus, typically found only through ランダム資材ポーション spawned by 大いなる宝箱. It will not grow through air like regular Fungus, but will spread very quickly to all adjacent materials. It appears slightly transparent in the world. Like 謎のキノコ, it will not be removed if 奇妙なキノコ is removed with a キノコシフト.

キノコ (Prop)

The 森林 where the game begins features brown, salmon and sky-blue mushrooms on the surface and in caves. Smaller mushrooms also appear in the 鉱山. These are background elements and only become interactive if dislodged by damage. Eating them will inflict Effect food poisoning.png 食中毒 instead of Tripping; however, they may be "ground up" into キノコの血 in much the same fashion as worm corpses.

奇妙なキノコ (Corpse)

奇妙なキノコ can be found as the corpse of the following enemies.
