Orb of True Knowledge
Orbs of True Knowledge are collectibles that can be picked up by you in the world. They are always accompanied by an Emerald Tablet, and many are also housed in Orb Rooms, which have hidden messages about the lore of the World when their basins are filled with specific contents.
Effects
When first collected, they will give you a specific message depending on which Orb was collected and an accompanying spell, which also unlocks the spell for future runs. In all future runs, you will instead receive a slightly different message (referring to the Orb as a Familiar Orb of True Knowledge) and an Extra Max Health pickup (+25). Shortly after an orb is collected, an eerie sound will play with an accompanying ominous screen shake effect, hinting that something more is going on as well.
When at least one orb has been collected, a counter will appear below the wand mana or potion capacity bar indicating how many orbs have been collected. This counter does not appear until you have obtained at least 1 orb.
Kolmisilmä receives exponential health increases and additional buffs, weaknesses, and/or abilities with each orb collected, with its health reaching 131,481 if you acquire all 11 orbs in the main world. This is able to go even further still with Orbs of Corrupted Knowledge.
Orbs of Corrupted Knowledge
Any Orb that generates in a parallel world turns red and is referred to as an Orb of Corrupted Knowledge. These orbs will never contain spells and instead function similarly to Familiar Orbs of True Knowledge, with the exception that the health upgrades they typically come with are replaced with a poisonous Cursed Extra Max Health. It is possible to pick up the Orb without taking the cursed health upgrade by standing on the Orb's very edge when picking it up.
Collected corrupted orbs add to the orb counter in the top right, further scaling the final boss in the starting world (if still alive). However, each specific corrupted orb can only be collected once per direction; for example, collecting the Orb atop the Pyramid in any east world will render any other east Pyramid orb uncollectable, but it will still be possible to collect the orb once more in the west worlds (which will then render all like west Orbs uncollectable).
With 11 orbs in the main world and 11 more per parallel world direction, the maximum amount of orbs that can be collected in a run is 33 (though this goes up to 36 with the orb that can rarely be found in a Great Treasure Chest, and the equivalent chests in Parallel Worlds). Note that the Orb beneath the Lava Lake does not spawn in parallel worlds outside of New Game Plus due to the lake itself not generating at all, meaning the maximum amount of Orbs attainable in NG only is 31 (34 with the GTC Orb).

Secret orb
It is possible, but astronomically unlikely, to obtain a 34th orb from a randomly generated Great Treasure Chest, and 35-36 via Parallel Worlds. The message for the secret orb is This secret should not have been available for you.
There are only three guaranteed ways to obtain this orb:
- via kaliuresis's Noita Orb Atlas, which lets you find the correct
X,Y
coordinates for your own random seed.- (Note, if using the
player.xml
file to exact your coordinates, you must account for rounding (1200.6 => 1201).)
- (Note, if using the
- via a set seed.
- There are several known seeds which generate a 32nd orb in a naturally spawning chest in the Mines. This orb can be entity duped to reach 34 orbs without entering NG+. A complete list is here: https://pastebin.com/LMNH1ARS
- Alternatively, some seeds have orbs at conveniently accessible coordinates. This text walkthrough by kaliuresis explains the details: https://pastebin.com/raw/PSDpYsWY

Moon orb
In the game's code there is code to spawn an orb relating to the moon which grants Destruction and a message stating "Secrets of great undoing have been unlocked to you". It is likely that this orb was planned to be granted when you "opened" the moon but was later scrapped for an unknown reason.
Spell interactions
Many projectiles can collide with (certain parts of) orbs and other objects in addition to enemies, enabling wand designs to detect and locate nearby orbs and items. Adding triggers to projectiles with GameAreaEffectComponents is particularly useful, as they can collide with entities in an area (rather than a single pixel like normal projectiles), and the hitbox on orbs is small (much smaller than the sprite). Additionally, currently loaded orbs and items can be detected in an infinite range using a special interaction[2]. The locator wand design below is a rudimentary demonstration that will delete many enemies (and your HP) and warp the caster to orbs, health upgrades, health and spell refresher Pickups, Destruction-immune enemies, or other "colliding" entities below the caster, including Hand Statues, various sorts of traps (including Miinankylväjä mines, Lukki Eggs, and Root Grower Fruits), Candles, and dripping liquid generators (e.g., in the Vault and Frozen Vault).
To perform wider searches, it is useful to add a Bomb alongside Destruction, and to integrate this wand with healing, efficient digging, and travel wands or Pollen feedback loops. Additionally, a projectile-clearing spell such as Spells to Acid is needed to prevent growing lag from the long-lasting circle projectiles. Destruction-immune, explosion-resistant entities will also need to be avoided or crafted around.
Explanation:
- Divide By 2 + Light eliminates the recharge time penalty of Destruction but adds some cast delay, so holding down the "use wand" control on some higher-end wands will fire at a reasonable rate (not too fast or too slow).
- The first Circle of Fervour will hit (too) many types of enemies and other entities. When it hits:
- Destruction will remove many of the unwanted enemies (and your health).
- A Nolla'd Slime Mist will fire off an Nolla'd Circle of Fervour after a momentary delay, waiting for these enemies to be removed. If this circle hits any surviving entities, it will fire off the Nolla'd Return projectile to warp you.
