Talk:Advanced Guide: Wand Mechanics

Regarding the last example Wand (section about Chainsaws), I thought that Chainsaw outright sets the Cast Delay to 0.

Example: Wand has 0.25 cast delay. 1) Increase Mana - cast delay is now 0.5s 2) Chainsaw - ignores cast delay, cast delay is now set to 0s 3) Spark trigger - casts immediately, cast delay is now increased to 0.05s

Let me know if I'm misunderstanding Chainsaw here. Just wondering why it reduces cast delay, despite not having it as a listed property.

It was quite some time ago when I tested it and reached that conclusion, and haven't really touched it since the nerf. What I do remember was that I worked with rather large cast delay wands and spells in order for the effect to be more pronounced, testing with doublespell to both group them and keep them separate, and in the end I reached the conclusion described in the example. I _really_ didn't want to get this bit wrong, since to begin with I thought it completely deleted castdelay as well, but my experiments seemed to show they didn't, and that confused me for a long time.

Nevertheless, feel free to experiment yourself and correct it. I might be wrong or it might've been changed. If it truly sets cast delay to zero, then even ridiculously slow wands should fire every frame until reset. Lancar223 (talk) 17:03, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
