Runestones are a collection of rare inventory items which can produce auras that alter the physical properties around them.
Each one of them cause different effects within a certain radius, indicated by a pulse of glowing magic particles. They usually appear in an idle state, and are activated by either being thrown or kicked. Runestones that affect projectiles will do so on both enemy and player projectiles, making them volatile items to use.
Runestones have a 1.1% chance to spawn in Item Pedestals, and a 0.75% chance to spawn from Chests.

Tips
- When transformed, projectiles will still keep their original speed, making the usually slower Fireballs much faster.
- When spawning, there is a 10% chance for a Runestone to be active upon loading in. As such, enemies within the effect radius can become much more dangerous.
- As physics objects, Runestones can be thrown and used for accidental kills, similarly to Emerald Tablets.
Trivia
- Prior to the 2023 bugfix patches: Due to a code oversight, where the random function was grounded an unnecessary second time, item pedestals could only spawn Runestone of Edges. Chests could spawn any of the runestones like intended.
