The Moon is a massive, circular location at the top of the world. It can be found above the first iteration of The Work (Sky).

Overview

The Moon is composed of Cheese, an unique, edible Material that's solid but easy to dig through. It is decorated with an unique texture of the Moon's craters.

The moon also has an unique background, being a darkened version of its appearance. A few glyphs hinting at its quests are written at its center, reading:

"Opening" the Moon

In order to "open" the Moon, you must bring a combination of the 4 Essences and dig into its center to activate one of the 3 unique events. Each of these events will also reward a unique Achievement Pillar.

Notably, once any of the below events have been completed, that moon becomes ineligible to be used for any future Sun or Moon events in the current run. Going to New Game Plus will recreate the moon entity and allow events to be triggered again, although any Sun present can be an obstacle and you may want to move it out of the way first. This is achievable by either utilising a spell with a gravitational pull (such as Omega Black Hole), or by using the Kuulokivi or kuu. The same applies to the Dark Moon and its events.

The Four Essences

By entering the center of the Moon while carrying the Essences of Air, Fire, Earth and Water, the entire Moon will transform into Void Liquid, the Destruction spell will appear and unlock, and this message will appear:

This is one way to get a sizeable amount of Void Liquid.

This will unlock the Void Moon secret achievement pillar.

Bringing the main four Essences transorms the Moon into Void Liquid.

The Five Essences

By bringing the Essence of Spirits along with the other Essences mentioned above to the center of the Moon, the Moon will instead transform into Whiskey, the Destruction spell will also appear, and this message will appear:

This will unlock the Drunk Moon secret achievement pillar.

Bringing the all five Essences transforms the Moon into Whiskey.

The Gourd Moon

The appearance of Kolmisilmä after making contact with a gourd

Throwing a Refreshing Gourd at Kolmisilmä (or simply flying on top of it with the Gourd in your inventory) will deform its body into a gourd-like shape and turn it green (sometimes nicknamed "Gourdon" by the community). If the transformed Final Boss is loaded and you enter the Moon while carrying the elemental essences, it will transform the Moon into Healthium, and all of the Touch of spells (Touch of Blood, Touch of Gold, Touch of Oil, Touch of Smoke, Touch of Spirits and Touch of Water) will be dropped from the center of the Moon. This message will be shown: The gods are confusedWhat is that?!

This event will take priority over the Drunk Moon and Void Moon events.

This will unlock the Gourd Moon secret achievement pillar.

The Moon is found at x = 264 and y = -25839 (y axis goes down). Parallel worlds have no Moon, though the Moon is present in New Game Plus cycles, permitting multiple Moon events to be completed within a single run.
