OVERCAST

This spell usually doesn't do anything, but in the event you attempt to cast a spell you don't have enough mana for, it'll overcast, and allow the cast anyway. When you run out of mana, it'll play some effects and then set your mana to negative the Wand's Mana recharge speed. The mana cost of the remaining spells in the casting block is then subtracted. You will not be able to cast again with the wand until the wand's mana is fully replenished.

Tips

  • Since the spell sets the wand's mana to negative of its recharge speed, it is guaranteed to take at least a second before the wand is ready to cast again after Overcasting.
  • This spell works best on wands with high mana recharge and low maximum mana.
  • It allows the entire casting block to execute, so dont be afraid to stack multicast spells. You may need to wait a while after doing so though, since your mana can go as far into the negatives as it needs to in order to pay back the mana used.
  • Overcasting also allows the casting of spells that have a higher mana cost then the wand's maximum mana capacity, allowing you to cast spells like Black Hole on the starter wand.
  • This spell can be useful in any stage of the game, since the recovery time of Overcasting is based off of the wand's mana recharge.
  • To make this spell work, a file is appended to gun.lua which may cause compatibility problems with other mods. If this is the case, there is a setting in the mod's config that allows you to disable the spell. This prevents the spell from spawning but also ensures compatabilty with any mod that edits gun.lua.
