This article is about the Hiisi Alchemist. For the High Alchemist, see Ylialkemisti. For other uses, see Category:Alchemists. |
Puistokemisti (listen ) (also known as Hiisi Alchemist) is an extremely lethal, but very useful enemy that spawns rarely in several of the early biomes.
Behavior
Puistokemisti walks around slowly, and randomly throws potions directly at your current location when in range.
It is immune to lava, but not acid or freezing vapour, which can be contained in one of the thrown potions. They're also not immune to drowning, so it can suffocate under its own liquids. These two facts cause Puistokemisti to eventually kill itself, even without your intervention.
Puistokemisti will stop throwing potions if there are 15 of their potions already nearby. Breaking the potions will allow them to attack again. Other potions do not count towards the limit.
Potions
Bottles
The potion bottles thrown by Alchemists contain the amount of liquid equal of a regular bottle, but only have half the capacity, causing them to appear as 200% full. If emptied the bottle can only be filled up to its capacity, which is half of normal potions.
Due to being overfilled, these potion bottles will spray their contents further than a regular potion, this effect only lasts while they're overfilled.
Contents
Many of the potion bottles contain dangerous material that can kill you, and can rapidly fill an enclosed space with fluid. The potions tend to have alchemic reactions with each other, creating massive amounts of fire, freezing vapour, and even walls of rock when lava and water connect.
The Hiisi Alchemist can throw potions containing anything in the Aggressive material list. I.e.:

Tips
- Hiisi Alchemists can be used to gain potions that you cannot make on your own. A somewhat reliable way to collect their potions is to have them throw the potions at you while you (and/or they) are submerged in deep water or other liquid, as sufficient amounts of liquid will slow the potions down enough to prevent them breaking. You can also simply catch the potion in the air as it flies towards you, but this is risky as some of the materials can kill you instantly if your timing is slightly off.
- Desirable potions include:
- Teleportatium, for use in The Hourglass Chamber
- Pheromone, for healing with Parantajahiisi
- Whiskey, for activating the Nullification Altar
- Berserkium, for it's damage buff effect
- The rare potions with highly dangerous materials such as acid and lava, for fungal shifting them into something safer. Can also be used as a single use projectile against difficult enemies
- Extra care should be taken when disposing of unwanted Alchemist potion bottles; if dragged and dropped from the inventory to throw away and you are moving with a similar speed and direction, the bottles may immediately collide with you and break. (Low velocity throws, or throwing via right clicking, don't have this behavior.)
Trivia
- The randomness of the thrown potions is determined by both the (x,y) coordinates of the Alchemist and the current game frame number. Because of this, it is infeasible to use a seed tool to predict the order in which potions will be thrown.
- Alchemists are extremely prone to killing themselves due to the arrangement of dangerous flasks they throw. These will be a trick kill, however take extra caution to try to avoid any residual dangerous liquids the gold nuggets could be lying in.
